Hi! I'm Hannah! Mom & Dad asked me to write you and let you know how I'm doing. I'm doing pretty good. I'm 2 years old now. Some folks say I'm developmentally delayed, but I don't know. I think I'm just right. Maybe everyone else is just developmentally rushed. It did take me quite a while to learn to walk, though, and I still like to hold one arm up to help my balance. I'm also quite a bit behind in my speech, but I'm making progress.
Mom & Dad had been concerned about my hearing, but it checks out ok. They also had my eyes examined. I had this habit of holding my chin down when I look up at people. Don't ask me why - it just works better for me. Anyway, the ophthalmologist (hey, pretty good word for a 2 year old, eh?) recommended glasses and now I have my own pair, just like Mom & Dad.
I'm on a special diet, too: a GFCF (gluten free, casein free) diet. Apparently, they have found a number of developmentally delayed kids have difficulty with gluten (in wheat) and/or casein (in dairy products) and do much better on a GFCF diet. Mom & Dad decided to give it a try and see if it helps me.
Mom takes me to Orlando each week to see a speech/language therapist and a physical therapist. They probably have some goals they’re working toward, but, hey, as far as I'm concerned, we're just playing and having fun. Dad & Mom are encouraged that my speech is starting to pick up. Some of my favorite words are ma-ma, da-da, hi, up, no, mmm (means yes), o-tay (ok), joos, daw (dog), beh (bear), na-nuh (that's me, Hannah), aw-duh (all-done), i-uv-oo (one of Dad's favorites), and tank-oo. I also have an occupational therapist and an early intervention instructor that come and play with me each week at my home.
Well, I better be going. Mom & Dad say that I'm special and I guess I am. They also tell me that you all have been praying for me and I want to thank you very much. I don't know what God has for me in the future, but I have a wonderful Mom & Dad and big brother and sister, so God must be wonderful too. Write back when you can; just ask Dad to read it to me, though - my reading isn't that good yet. J
Thanks for your prayers, encouragement, and support. We appreciate your continued prayers for our family and for wisdom and guidance in our programming. Let us know how we can be praying for you also.
